Gopher football season is coming up, and we know you'll need to get to the stadium! TCF Stadium can be found at 2009 University Avenue Southeast Minneapolis, Minnesota 55455.



The 50,805 seat on-campus "horseshoe" style stadium is designed to support future expansion to seat up to 80,000 people, and it cost $303.3 million to build. Kind of pricey, but thank you TCF Bank for the generous  contribution!

Gophers Hire New Basketball Coach!

Read on, Gopher fans, if you want exciting Gopher Basketball news! Minnesota has reached an agreement with Florida International's Richard Pitino to be the Gophers' new coach. The school introduced Pitino at a news conference on Friday, and was greeted with a great response, I mean obviously. Richard Pitino is the son of NCAA coaching legend Rick Pitino.

Richard Pitino was with his father's team, the Louisville Cardinals, Sunday in Indianapolis and then went to see Kevin Ware with his father Monday in an Indianapolis hospital. Remember the guy who broke his leg?  We thought that was a nice gesture. He has the experience, but how will he do with our beloved Gophers? I personally can't wait to see how the season goes!

Yeah, I've heard people think he's attractive too! 

Thank you, Senior Seth Helgeson

Seth Helgeson has had a great career in the MN Golden Gophers men's hockey team. He's from faribault, Minnesota and attended Faribault High School. He is 6'4'' and weighs 215 lbs. His birthday is October 8th. Thoughout the years as a Gopher, we noticed that Seth never put up a lot of points, but he made strong, crisp outlet passes and did a good job of getting the puck through traffic and towards the net. His style is not flashy, but it’s proven to be very effective so far him at the collegiate level. He also led the team in penalties and penalty minutes (oops) with 31 penalties and 70 penalty minutes his junior season.

We love that Seth Helgeson brought a different and unique set of skills to the table than many of the other defenseman in the system. We wish him the best of luck as he will turn pro for the 2013-14 season.

Gopher Roster will sure be Different Next Season

The Gophers roster is sure to look different next year including the fact that several seniors are graduating. Thank you for all your efforts Andre Ingram, Julian Welch, Rodney Williams, and Trevor Mbakwe. It was all of their final game as Golden Gophers.  Andre Ingram grabbed his 100th career rebound and point this season at Purdue and vs Penn State. Julian Welch scored his 600th career point vs. North Florida this season. Rodney Williams played his 100th career game last March. Trevor Mbakwe finished 10th on the Gophers' All-Time Rebounding Average list with a career average of 9.5 rpg.

Minnesota Golden Gophers Football history

Some notable Minnesota Golden Gopher football alumni include Marion Barber III and Laurence Maroney. Both superb running backs have a good chance of winning a Super Bowl ring with their respective teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the New England Patriots. These superstar running backs actually played on the same squad together, making the Golden Gophers running attack the most potent in the nation.


Minnesota Golden Gophers football fell on hard times last season but the future looks bright with head coach Tim Brewster's commitment to recruiting. In their history, the Golden Gophers football team has won six National Championships but none since 1960. More recently, the Golden Gophers football team has won the 2002 Music City Bowl, the 2003 Sun Bowl and the 2004 Music City Bowl.

Williams Arena History

The Minnesota Golden Gophers men's basketball team wears the school colors of maroon and gold and play their games out of Williams Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota. When the Big Ten was established in 1905, the Minnesota Gophers already had a basketball program and won the first two conference titles. The Gophers men's basketball team were very successful in their early years. Gopher Basketball tickets sell quickly!

In modern times, the Gophers moved from the Kenwood Armory in downtown Minneapolis to the University of Minnesota Field House, later Williams Arena, in 1928. Williams Arena was named after Henry L. Williams, the former Minnesota Golden Gophers football coach in 1950. The arena originally could only sell 9,500 Minnesota Gophers men's basketball tickets, but in 1950, it was remodeled and expanded, making way for a capacity of 18,025. Williams Arena is known as one of the only arenas to have a raised court, in which players must climb stairs to an elevated playing surface.

Mariucci Arena has the best Minnesota Gopher hockey legends

Mariucci Arena proudly boasts some of the best Minnesota Gopher hockey legends.  John Mayasich scored 144 goals and 154 assists in 111 games played.  His #8 jersey hangs on a banner in Mariucci Arena.  There is also a mural depicting all of the 1st Team All-Americans to play for Minnesota as well as the Hobey Baker Award Winners.  The history in Mariucci Arena is unmatched.

The Big Ten Bracket for the 2013 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament

You heard it here first Gophers, the Big Ten Bracket for the 2013 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament is now available. The Gophers will head to the event as the No. 9 seed and open on Thursday, March 14th against the No. 8 seed Illinois Fighting Illini. The game is scheduled to tip at 11 a.m. Central Time from United Center. And we found all the tickets you need.
